Ngorongoro Conservation Area Visitor Information

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a renowned wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania, is celebrated for its abundant populations of lions, African leopards, Tanzanian cheetahs, and the annual spectacle of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest migration to and from the Serengeti, known as the Great Migration. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the park fees effective from 2024, aiding travelers in preparing for their expedition in this iconic conservation area.

Entry Fees for Non-Residents

– Peak Season (July to December): Non-resident adults are charged USD 200 per day, while children and students incur a fee of USD 50 per day.

– Low Season (January to June): Non-resident adults are charged USD 100 per day, with children and students maintaining a fee of USD 50 per day.

Entry Fees for Residents and Tanzanian Citizens

– Peak Season: Residents and Tanzanian citizens are charged TSH 3000 for adults and TSH 1000 for children/students.

– Low Season: Resident adults pay TSH 1000, while children/students fees remain at TSH 1000.

Camping Fees

For those interested in overnight stays, camping fees differ based on residency status and the type of campsite (public or private). Notably, private campsites require a booking fee of TSH 10,000.

Vehicle and Other Fees

– Vehicle Entry: Charges vary based on the vehicle’s capacity, ranging from TSH 400 for vehicles with less than 6 seats to TSH 5,000 for those with 45 seats and above.

– Ranger Fees: Game drives exceeding 6 hours incur a fee of TSH 3,000, while shorter drives and full-night camp security have their respective charges.

Payment Modes

Entrance fees can be paid in cash (US Dollars or Tanzanian Shillings) at the entry gates. However, for the western side of the conservation area, notably the Mara Triangle – Mara Conservancy area, only cashless payments are accepted (Visa/Mastercard or Mpesa Mobile Money). Cashless options are also available for all other entry gates, including Sekenani and Talek gates.
